The 5th edition of the IAHR Europe Congress will be hosted in Trento, Italy, from 12th to 14th June 2018.

Founded in 1935, the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) is a prestigious and independent organization that brings together specialists in water, water resources, soil and environmental protection. The IAHR stimulates and promotes both research and real world applications, so contributing to sustainable development, the optimization of water management around the world and to industrial applications of fluid technology. The Association is involved in a wide range of sectors and is active in international waters programmes with such eminent organizations, as UNESCO and WMO.

The IAHR Europe Congress is a biennial event that has been organised since 2010. The first edition was held in Edinburgh, UK. The following editions were in Munich, Germany, in 2012; in Porto, Portugal, in 2014; and in Liege, Belgium, in 2016, each with an ever increasing interest from individual participants, industry and corporations. The 2018 edition, entitled New Challenges in Research and Hydraulic Engineering, is expected to attract 400 participants.

The congress aims to bring together and to confront the scientific community, public and private agencies, and the industrial sector. It also wants to create a forum where scientists can present their work and discuss ways of translating the results of their research into practical applications.

For the duration of the congress, an exhibition area will be available for companies specializing in goods and services related to water, water resources, and hydraulics. It is expected that the exhibition area will attract the interest of laboratories and universities, consultants, research centres and equipment suppliers participating at the congress. Furthermore, special sessions for exhibitors can be planned within the congress schedule, focusing, for example, on software development, specialist equipment, innovative design, and the execution of civil hydraulic works.

The congress should prove to be an excellent promotional tool for companies working in the sector, providing the opportunity to meet and interact with the international scientific community and stakeholders.
